Back entries from last month! Or was it longer than that... I have quite a few subscribed blogs and pages on my google reader (which was actually introduced to me by pottie. Saves so much time from manually going into each site and checking for an update, which is so old-school now that there's all the rss and reader), but no one seems to be updating nearly frequently enough.
So while I have spare time on my hands from being sick, I shall diligently blog. If I can't read other people's blog, I shall have to create my own reading materials.

So back a few weeks ago, my high school friends decided to meet up at the Rocks for a spot of tea.
Known as "The Tea Cosy", FL was the one to introduce the place to us. I've always found tea cosy's to have such a "grandma" feel... not that I would really know what that means, I never got to know my grandmothers at all, but one can just imagine grandmothers knitting these on a rocking chair in front of a fireplace during winter.

Located behind the Irish Design Shop at 33 George Street, The Rocks, in the middle of the "Rocks Markets", this place is only open during the weekends. I never knew that before until I tried to find it one Tuesday afternoon. Dreadfully obscure place to find, I ended up walking past it a few times before finally realising it was closed. Now that I visit their site though, it says they are open from 10-4 on Thursdays and Fridays too, both days which I work. How unfortunate.

I ended up ordering the gourmet tasting basket for two, which I shared with YJ. We chose Pear& Vanilla jam as well as pawpaw, lime& passion fruit, both which were delightful, though the fig, almond& ginger was really really nice too. I "borrowed" FL's fig jam quite a bit ^^''

As for tea, I had Turkish Apple, which I've seen being sold at T2, and tried a sample of it before there too. Its warm sour tinge helps digest... and yes, the scones and cream do need lots of digesting.

Cinnamon and brown sugar, plain, cheese, and date scones. I have to say, I'm not very fond of savory scones, but the date one was absolutely beautiful. Too bad I saved it till last... you'd never think two scones is filling, especially for one who did not have lunch beforehand. Underestimated them... them and the cream. The scones change each time I think, depending on what they make during the day, so perhaps next time the same scone flavors won't be available... would love to try the date ones again though.

Usually I would NEVER leave butter behind. Not butter... I'd eat butter by itself if I had to, and I usually do, particularly the whipped butter that comes with Maccas' hot cakes, but... butter versus cream... hard decision, but I went for the cream, only because it's fresh and not in a packet.
Overall, the place was very interesting, lots of Irish decorations and I could HEAR live Irish music being practiced behind a closed door. Never felt the urge to barge open a closed door that much in a while, but the live music sounded so much better than what they were playing through the speakers/radio. It was a warm place for a catch up, and upstairs felt almost like a home, aired with open windows and veranda overlooking the Rocks. Nice recommendation, FL! :D
